Bradenton’s Favorite Manatee Turns 65

Snooty the ManateeIf you have never been to the South Florida Museum in Bradenton then you may not have met Snooty yet. Snooty has been helping and keeping company to many rescue manatees that come to the facility to rehabilitate. He enjoys the new company and has lived quite the life. In fact so much so every year on his birthday they throw a big party. This year is a milestone year- he turns 65 on July 20, 2013.

Turning 65 is a BIG deal for the oldest living manatee in captivity. Snooty’s home is the South Florida Museum in Bradenton. This year’s annual celebration will be held in the Spanish Plaza from 10am-2pm with plenty of free cookies and drinks for the kids. Expect lots of games and art activities for the kids as well.

Snooty is expecting loads of handmade cards which will be displayed at the party. Be sure to get your card in early for a chance to win Snooty’s Best Birthday Card contest. Children in preschool through 6th grade during the 2012-2013 school year are eligible to enter. Grab some construction paper, glue, glitter, and your best markers and have fun with your creation! Snooty will appreciate it for sure as well as all the party guests. Be sure to get your entry in before 5pm on July 5, 2013.

Birthday party admission is free and reduced admission prices to the Museum, Bishop Planetarium and Parker Manatee Aquarium will be offered to the party goers.
