Earth Day Events in Sarasota & Bradenton

Oscar Scherer State ParkEarth Day began in 1970 in an effort to make an ecological movement. Today it is an opportunity for the community to come together with families to appreciate our Earth and learn as much as we can about the importance of nature. It is a day to spend outdoors for sure. The official day is April 22 this year, but here are some local Sarasota & Bradenton events to consider attending the weekends before.


April 6 – 7, 2013: City of Bradenton Auditorium on 10th Street West

“Make Every Day Earth Day 2013.” This event is part of the Hernando DeSoto Heritage Festival Seafood Festival. Keep Manatee Beautiful and many other organizations will have exhibits displaying how to reduce waste, use water wisely and landscape your Florida yard. They will also provide information on how you can make a difference for our community. This event is from noon to 6:00 pm both days.

April 20, 2013: Noon- 4:00 pm at the Crowley Natural & Cultural Museum:

Celebrate Earth Day-Git ‘ur Cowboy. You can enjoy the music of John French Connection Silvertip, food vendors, crafts, and nature tours. April 21, 2013: All day at Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey (Sarasota County)The Annual Sarasota Earth Day Celebration is free to all and will offer plenty of fun activities such as a children’s art contest, fishing 4 kids, silent auction, a photo contest, guided walks, kids games and food. Event is from 10:00 am-5:00 pm Located at: 1843 S. Tamiami Trail, Osprey, Florida 34229.
