Europe Meets America at the Sarasota Opera House

You’re seated in a darkened room when the sound of melancholy music reaches your ears; it’s the sound of Copland’s Clarinet Concerto.

Sarasota Ski-A-Rees to Host an Adaptive Water Ski Clinic

On Sunday, May 22nd, 2016, an Adaptive Water Ski Clinic will take place at the Sarasota Ski-A-Rees site as a collective accomplishment of the Easter Seals, the Ski-A-Rees, and Ann’s Angels. Ann’s Angels is an Adaptive water ski foundation which gives the Adaptive community opportunities to learn to ski and simultaneously raises awareness about people with disabilities.

An amazing woman, Anne O’Brine-Satterfield, after her life of competitive water skiing, helped people with disabilities learn to ski. She skied in the 1996 Disabled Nationals and again in 1997 after being told by doctors that she would never have a usable hand or arm due to a serious skiing injury. She loved especially working with children as water skiing granted them confidence in their daily lives like it did for her. Sadly, she passed away. Her former team started Ann’s Angels to carry out her legacy.

The upcoming adaptive ski clinic includes a provided lunch and lasts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1602 Ken Thompson Pkwy, Sarasota, FL, 34236.
